How To Make Your Products Stand Out

If you are trying to promote a new product, it’s important to find ways to make it stand out against its competitors. You know your product is what your customers are looking for, but the question is, how do you make sure they find it and recognize its superior value? Read our top tips for making your product stand out:

Understand Your Target Market

The first step to setting your product apart from the crowd is to really get to know your target market. If your products are drawing the wrong eyeballs, what’s the point? For example, if your product is aimed at children but they are dull and forgettable, you can be sure it’s not going to be attracting the right people. So, the first step to getting your product right is to understand who your audience is and design with them in mind.

Be Human

Customers don’t buy from businesses; they buy from people. Take Soy Wax Candles for example – the base product is the same, but what makes people buy is your brand personality. What is your story and the story of your candle – are you a small business focused on vegan environmentally friendly ingredients? Or is your focus on wellbeing and relaxation? Once you know your focus, let your customers know why you have chosen this to make you relatable.

Show Your Strengths

Even in a competitive product category, you have something you do better than anyone else. Think about your unique selling point (USP) and play to it. Use this to drive conversation and purchases. Not sure what your USP is? Look back at what has driven your previous customers to buy - whatever it is that drives people to the purchase is what you should focus on.

Be Unique

Even the most niche markets still have competitors, therefore make sure you know who your competitors are and what makes them unique. Once you have done this you need to find something to make your own brand and product unique. This could be something about the product itself e.g. if you make bath bombs do you add shea butter to make them extra luxurious, or it could be a mission or belief or your business e.g. for every product sold you donate £X to a charity and explain why this charity is important to you.

Build Customer Relationships

The key is to communicate early and often. Welcome new social media followers early with a personalized message but also ensure you don’t forget about your loyal customers by making sure they are the first to know about things such as new launches. The best way to build customer relationships is to be honest as talked about before. Connecting with people through social media is the key to building customer relationships, do this and the orders will follow.

Use Custom Labels

You know the old saying “Never judge a book by its cover” – well let’s face it, we all do this! In fact, 72% of consumers say product labels and branding influences their purchasing decision; and this is why it is so important to use this to your advantage. Choosing high-quality, eye-catching labels for your products will increase sales – whether it be on the product itself or on your packaging. Not sure where to start with this?
